It has been WAY too long

So I realize that it has been about 20 months since the last time I wrote, which is completely absurd.  I feel terrible that I haven't been updating the blog, mostly because it was my goal to not lose touch with friends and family through use of the blog, and now that Lukas is born, I would love to have this to look back and track his growth.  I am mad at myself for not writing down much about Lukas in the last 18 months, and I really want to change that.  Not necessarily for him, because I highly doubt if he will ever care to look at this, but for me, because I KNOW when he graduates from high school or gets married, I am going to want to look back and remember my baby.  He is getting so BIG.  He's not a baby anymore, yes to some he is still a baby, but he's becoming more of a toddler/kid everyday.

At his 18 month check up he was in the 54th percentile for weight, and height, and 47th percentile for head circumference.  He has literally ALWAYS been in the 50th percentile for height, but his weight has come down TREMENDOUSLY.  He was always in the 90th percentile for weight, but has not gained weight really since he was at least 1 year old.  He is a healthy little boy, right on track developmentally.  He has a hernia (not sure how many of you know about that) that we are keeping an eye on, He has had it for probably 4 or 5 months now.  It hasn't changed and we're just keeping an eye on it, they won't talk about surgery until he is 4 or 5 years old because they don't like to do surgery on little kids if it's not necessary, so we're just hoping it will go away on its own!  He is quite a physical child, prefers running around, being chased, and playing ball, to sitting down and playing with his toys.  Lately though other than balls (literally ANY kind of ball), he has taken a fascination to match box cars.  He's starting to play with those quietly and push them around, it's fun to watch.  His current FAVORITE book is Z for Zamboni, he absolutely loves it, and makes me read it to him every day!  It teaches the alphabet and hockey at the same time.  He points out all of the sticks on the page, and the puck, says hockey, and points to daddy sometimes haha.  There was a hockey game on the other day and mike and lukas were just GLUED, it's fun that he already likes hockey so much.  Mike likes it, that's for sure!  He knows most of his alphabet, i can point to a letter and he can tell me what it is, and a lot of the numbers (2, 3, 6, 9, 8).  It is SO fun to watch him learn, and point to letters when we read or out and about.  He is so interested in words.  He also loves leapfrog videos and dogs!  His favorites foods are peanut butter an jelly, milk, yogurt, cereal bars, and those fruit and veggie packs and chicken.  He is quite the talker, has tons of words and just never stops jabbering.  Except for when he pretends like he is shy in new situations, then he gets quiet.  He LOVES skype, when he hears the skype ring he runs to the computer to say hi.

Anyways, as far as Mike and I go, we're doing well.  I just got accepted into the accelerated track for my MSW program, so I will be graduating faster, which is great news!  We have a lot of changes coming up in our near future, and a lot of big decisions to make, we're just trying to take it all in stride with a smile on our face!  I will update this when I can be more open about it :)) We miss home though and are hoping to visit in August, but we'll see!  Mike is doing really well at work, he should be going to the promotion board within the next few months.  We have tremendously changed our lifestyle habits, we eat "clean" (no processed foods) and juice daily, obviously we still go out and will eat junk if we are forced to, but we try not to.  All because of the video Hungry for Change, watch it, it will change your life in a good way.  I have tried incorporating only organic beauty products as well, that's harder and i'm not a stickler about it, but it's still an important part of my life now!  It's fun to watch how healthy Mike has gotten because of watching Hungry for Change, he used to live on top ramen and now won't eat it at all!!  I'm proud of him :)  Annnnd, I think that's about it for now!!  Hope everyone has a happy day!!
